I think it is safe to say that this is the definitive workbench book. And as a free resource for the electronic version, this is completely out of this world as a deal! Join me on today’s episode as I discuss why this is probably the only workbench book you will ever need.

Episode 25 – With the Grain by Christian Becksvoort
In this episode I review Becksvoort’s book on wood as it relates to woodworking. One of the best books about the subject that takes a wide range of topics and presents them in a format accessible to woodworkers of all levels
Episode 23 and 24 – Talking Tools with Brad
To tie in with the review of hand tool books, Brad and I work through 3 tool lists discussing some of the advice and tools we wish we had heard when we were starting out in hand tools. I’ve also put together a list with approximate costs – you can view it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LS8QRl9ltqcfWcQ7cuicpRmO6qhZqB_X3OoVo2N_mrA/edit?usp=sharing
Video tour of the Workshop
Thanks to the kindness of Patreon’s I was able to get someone into the workshop to film me. If you’re interested in my tools and how I work this is a quick tour.
Episode 22 – Traditional Woodworking Handtools by Graham Blackburn
The second of Graham’s books is one I can heartily recommend to all readers interested in an overview of traditional tools. This is one of the best books I’ve read in terms of both covering a wide selection of tools, and being thorough enough that you come away with a new found understanding.
Episode 21 – The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Woodworking Handtools by Graham Blackburn
The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Woodworking Handtools Instruments and Devices by Graham Blackburn is an interesting attempt at a complete visual and text encyclopaedia of handtools. Join me in today’s episode as I explore why you might want to add this to your bookshelf.
Episode 20 – The Workbench Design Book by Christopher Schwarz
If you’re going down the rabbit hole of building the perfect workbench, this book will help you learn how to critique and improve on almost any design.
Episode 19 – Ingenious Mechanicks by Chris Schwarz
If you have ever wanted to build a low workbench, or are curious about the origins of the workbench – I have just the book for you today on the podcast. Chris Schwarz’s excellent production Ingenious Mechanicks showcases 3 low workbenches and takes you through the history construction and use of them.
Episode 18 – Workbenches by Christopher Schwarz
In my opinion the best book you can buy before you start building a workbench is Christopher Schwarz’s Workbenches: From Design & Theory to Construction & Use
Episode 17 – Hands Employed Aright by Joshua Klein
Such a great book about the incredible Joshua Fischer. Possibly the most detailed record of pre-industrial woodworking that we will ever have.
